Holy Motors : Movie review

                                           
In the year 2008 Michel Gondry, Joon-ho-Bong and Leos Carax made 3 independent short films that were shot in and around the city of Tokyo which then collectively made a feature length film with the same name Tokyo!.The Leos carax story had Denis Lavant playing the character of Merde(Shit in French).A weird-beard-creature who lives in sewers who feeds on flowers and absolutely anything mostly.Holy Motors is sort of a continuation of the extended perspective of the life of the creature played by Denis Lavant,again in this epic mindtrip of a film.The film opens with a Cinema hall full of people,dozing off and then from behind a man breaks open his wallpaper packed room through a door.He enters the cinema hall.There is a toddler walking in between followed by a fiery dog.That's not it,things get more bizzare after this.Denis Lavant plays the role of 'Mr. Oscar' who rides around the city of Paris in a limousine with his chauffeur played by Edith Scob.'Mr Oscar' leaves home like a normal person everyday to enact people.The acts are called as appointments ie the story of the film is in it's description.The abstractness of weirdness with a strong subtext makes this film a masterpiece of our times.It's the kind of film which can't be categorized in a particular genre as it's mysterious all the way through,you can never tell what's going to happen next,unless you have the exact mindset as Leos Carax.In conclusion I would love to tell about what goes on exactly inside the narrative but that would reveal too much about it.The best thing is to see it for yourselves.The juice of the film is it's surrealism and satire.The moment you realize what the film aimed at depicting,your head goes berserk with the ideology and the interpretation.It kind of acts as an X-ray vision of the lifestyle of today's average human being.

The Hobbit-An Unexpected Journey : Movie review(24FPS 3D)

I would clear things upfront,I have not read Tolkein's books.

The Hobbit is the first film of the new Trilogy of The 3 Hobbit films.Peter Jackson has somehow managed to convert a 275 pages Children's book written in 1937 by Tolkien into an epic saga divided into 3 feature length films.The previous film trilogy Lord of the Rings was also an adaptation of his novels.The film 'The Hobbit introduces almost a bunch of somewhat goofy dwarves.If you're a Die-hard Tolkien fan,you would have memorized all the names before watching,but in my case I was a little bamboozled by who's who.If you're a Big LOTR fan,you won't be disappointed with the turnout.The story was meant to cater to children but it does more than that.I have never been a huge fan of the adventure/fantasy genre but it is the brilliance of The 500 plus crew that worked their arse to make such an Epic.The CGI team at Weta Digital in NZ have challenged other studios with the advances in their technology for films.Martin Freeman plays 'Bilbo Baggins' very flawlessly.Ian Mckellen portrays 'Gandalf' with poise,Richard Armitage as 'Thorin'-The Leader of the dwarves also did a pretty decent job.The film is full of adventure and Action,not forgetting picturesque views of Nzealand.Bilbo's home Bag-end was recreated near matamata as it was back in 2005.

I would summarize by saying if you want to go on an adventure ride in fantasy world of Tolkien and Peter Jackson,you must go see the film in any form possible.If you end up wiki-ing and you-tubing the shit out of a film like me,then I recon it's worth the experience.

The Imposter : Movie review

There are those times when a film or a documentary grabs you by your neck and you feel choked by the experience.It happened to me last night.I watched 'The Imposter'.A documentary on a person who steals people's identities and becomes the person who he's never been or ever will be.Fredrick Bourdain
is that one guy wanted by the Interpol.He is this french guy who lies all the time,it's in his genes to lie.
I would not tell much about the film,because i've told too much already.If you're an indian and you can't get a dvd,go ahead and get it from you know where.
